i saw a kit yesterday and wanted to know if anyone has ever done this at home? i have never had it done, but i hate shaving all the time. anybody?

I've never had it done at home but I have had it done and the word OUCH comes to mind but yeah it beats shaving any day

I've never done it on myself.. but i've been waxed down there and omg it hurts! shaving feels a lot friendlier to me, untill i find the courage to try again.. lol

NEVER do it yourself!!!! People honestly don't understand just how much damage they can do to themselves doing their own brazilians. It's not the same as regular waxing. It's more difficult, it's time consuming, and it's very hard to get to the all the right places yourself. PLUS, you can bruise yourself very badly and the possibility of burning yourself. The skin in that area is VERY sensitive, and delicate.

Trust me girl, I have the girls that try and do it themselves come into my work and we have to end up fixing what they screwed up or couldn't do. If you want it waxed, go to a professional. If not, stick to shaving.

i've been curious about waxing, but i'm shy! and i don't know how if i'd be able to deal with someone.. downthere. and im too scared to do it myself, so i'll stay with shaving!

I've never done a brazillian on myself but I've tried regular waxing and it hurts a lot. It would probably be better to go to a professional.

I would definitely go to a pro for a Brazilian. I have waxed a little of my bikini line at home, and that is fine, but a brazilian is a different story.

I bought a kit once and tried but I just couldn't get it right myself, I couldn't reach properly. So I get it done in a salon now.

Completely agree!! Plus I really find that you need to get the client to help you stretch the skin, much easier and less painful for them.

i've had it done heaps of times. Don't be embarrassed - it's their job to do this, and do it professionally. My tips? don't go when you have your period, first it's gross for the person doing the wax and it's also more painful. Second, with most things, you think that the more expensive it is, the better quality the service, but with waxing, the opposite is true. Salons charging a lot more money than others are charging that much because they don't want to do it, and hope to discourage people from going with a higher price. I've never been somewhere that charges a REALLY low price, but I've found that mid-price range salons are a lot more casual and friendly.

So, shop around, don't do it at home, and have fun! it makes you feel so sexy!

Way too much hassle and big possibility something can go wrong if you do it yourself. Better to get it done by a professional, even tho can be embarrassing! The at-home Brazillian kits generally have wax which you apply then let cool and it gets kind of like soft/sticky?? Anyway you pull it off with your fingers and don't use cotton strips. But yeh, go to a salon!

Australian pricing for brazilians may be different to prices in the US, but average brazilian should cost you somewhere between $50-$60. I agree with Pinksugar, just because they are charging $80 for a brazlian and it may be in a swanky salon doesn't mean you are getting your moneys worth. You have no idea how much experience that therapist has. They may be fresh out of college, or have been doing it for 20 years. Price doesn't necessarily pay for experience. Shop around, ask questions, ask for a therapist that has some experience under their belt, you are the client and you are paying for this service, at the end of the day, you should pay for a service that you will be happy with.

The best time to come in for a brazilian is AFTER your period has finished, around a week or so after. The worst time to come is just before, as you are retaining water and your skin is more sensitive than any other time of the month. If you have your period, you will most likely be turned away and asked to book your appointment for another time, even if you are using a tampon. It's unhygenic. Especially for your therapist.

Don't be embarassed. it's our job! Trust me when I say this, we have seen plenty of people naked or in different forms of undress. We have seen all shapes, ages and sizes. We don't judge. We have seen so many bodies, it doesn't phase us!

If worried about pain, Take some pain killers about half an hour before your appointment, it should help a little with pain. There are numbing gels and sprays out there, unfortunately, they don't offer much help!

Wow I certainly just rambled! I hope that helps someone :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I guess this is more for bec688 as you have done to others, but i guess people who have had one would also know equally well!!

do they go up the 'cleft' between the bum? i get that the front part is removed but do they do the 'under passage' and all the up?!

i've also heard you have to get into awkward positions...

Any chance of an explantion of what you do start to finish, where you place the wax and what manouvres are required?!?!?!?!

they're not that embarrassing. Usually you lie on your back, with one leg straight and one leg bent at the knee. Many therapists can do the wax with your underwear on, if that makes you feel more comfortable - they just pull it to the side.

as for the 'back', I've had it done - the therapist asked if I wanted to and I just went along with it.They get you to lie on your stomach. Usually they do it last so you've already gotten comfortable with the therapist.

it truly isnt embarrassing, but i do remember my first time, and I really was scared! If you feel comfortable with your therapist then let her know that you're scared or its your first time!

I work at a Spa and I've really wanted to go in and get it done. The only thing is I find that it would be kinda weird to get someone you know do it to you... but I dunno, that's just me.

Oh and if you're scared of pain, sugaring is a less painful option. It basically is the same but the sugar only adheres to the hair and not the skin. - minimizing bruising and any pull on the skin when it gets ripped off.

All in all, I wouldn't do it myself!!!

Yes they do and no you don't have to get in weird positions, you just lie on your stomach. Some therapists find it easier to have you lie on your side with the top leg bent and forward but I've never had it done that way.

i had this done once and it huurrrrrrrrrt! it feels great afterwards though. i am having a hard time psyching myself up to get it done again.

honnestly, get it done professionally, pop an advil 20 minutes before

i get it done about once a month and i love it (and so does my bf) itswoth the pain to me, but peopl ehave different thresholds.

i lie on my back, she keeps my panties on as long as possible, then does the rest, i help her strech the skin so it hurts abit less and then i go on all fours for the bum and stuff, you dont have to though, its just easier for both of us that way! hth!

oh and it only costs about 30-40$ average here...

i'd never do this myself, id get wax everywhere lol

dont be embarassed to go to salon to get it done professionally! that's what they do for a living :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

if you have been shaving for a while before you get a brazillian.. it will hurt! a lot lol (well it did for me anyway) but the hairs get thinner and it stops hurting as much the more you get it waxed

it costs about $30-$30 here too
