hello ladies..

i was wondering if any of you tried any different body scrubbingexfloiating techniques?

i mean, like using a brush or any other thing beside ur hands? different kind of scrub? scrubbing while skin's dry maybe..?

u see, i'v been using the body shop shower gloves for probably five years daily with my shower gels (i use a different product like every 3 weeks but i always go back to Baby Johnosn's softwash) and use a body scrub weekly (any good economical recs plz?) ..

Now, the problem is that i don't think my body skin is responsing to this method anymore :s

i mean, no matter how harshlygentlely i use the gloves or the scrubs, i still feel a bit of flakiness (dead skin cells right?) not that i have dry skin, nor that i don't moisturise enough, but all of a sudden i feel that my skin looks old! the color of my skin started to change in different places, not really noticable, but I noticed and it made me feel bad :sleepyhead:

did i over exfoliate? is there anything to help my skin look and feel better?

or is it something else? u think i should take a steam bath?

plz help :ill:

i sometimes use a loofah, but generally i just use my hands. my favorite body scrub is from cosmence (le club des créateurs de beauté) with papaya (YUM). ushuaia makes a shower gel which is exactly the same product as before but a bit more liquid.

Have you tried using one the TBS Body Scrubs with their gloves? And I would do it more than once a week. Maybe 2 or 3 times a week. The Africa Spa Salt Scrub from TBS is good too.

I use my EOB exfoliating gloves daily. Could it be that your skin has changed and now needs more moisture?

a great body scrub thats super cheap is the st. ives exfoliators (theyre for your face but work so so so well for your body. just put it on before you get into the shower).

i agree

and at night and in the day if you can stand it..use pure cocoa butter

I either make my own body scrub, dry body brush or using an exfoliating sponge and they all work for me.

Maybe give your skin a break for a little bit and see if that helps :)

You can use Natural scrub....mix olives oil with suger...its very good scrub

I make my own, olive oil and raw sugar and with that i use exfoliating gloves and sometimes a loofah. always works well and leaves me feeling soft and nourished.

My favourite body exfoliator is fake bake body polish:

Fake Bake Body Polish 6oz, 170ml

It smells divine and lasts for ages, so I use this all the time even when I'm not self tanning!!

I have bought a body brush for dry body brushing but haven't used it yet

i think ill do that, i hope i can do it for 3 days in row tho,

cause i tried not to use the gloves once and used a loofah and i didn't feel clean enough :brsh:

thanq so much ladies for replying, i'll try the olive oil and sugar scrub again, and maybe use soy or baby oil instead, cause i tried it once but i felt like a hummus or a salad (is that makin any sense? :rotfl: )

btw, do u think a natural sponge would be good?

I dry body brush daily when I remember, and then use a body scrub 2-3 times a week; I've heard that using gloves daily then a scrub 1-2 times a week does wonders but I haven't kept it up long enough to tell how effective it is.

I use a body brush in the shower when I remember, but body exfoliation isn't one of my top priorities. Although eventually it'll have to be when it comes time for self-tanning season =).

Perhaps you are a scrubbing too hard or for too long? Right now I'm using a scrub from H2O+ , but I've heard really good things from scrubs by Lush and the Body Shop.

IMO once a day with those gloves does sound like overkill. Usually, you should be exfoliating once every five days to a week. Maybe the years youve spent scrubbing that often has made your skin dry.

It could also be your new shower wash, since you change that regularly.

The fact that it's winter now could be the reason for your dry skin too, since cold weather drys out the skin.

Changing your moisturiser to something heavier might also help.

i use exfoliating gloves daily, and i do have to be careful about which body washes i use with the gloves. some have ingredients that are way too harsh for my skin. have you changed your body wash lately? are you consuming enough water? what are you using to moisturize after your shower? the answers to these questions may help you get closer to the root of the problem. jmho~

I also like st ives, and i like neutrogena's sugar body scrub. i use shower gloves and sometimes a body brush in the shower. i think using a good lotion

and moisturizing right after showering helps too for soft smooth skin. i love

olay and dove lotions! hth :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
