So i have read in post after post that you are not supposed to do the "windshield wiper" motion when applying e/s.... My question is what else is there that works? I was playing around with blue palette and i could never get it properly blended without this motion. Could you go in small circles... or just over it and over it in the same direction? I think e/s is my worst enemy......

I guess I don't have a particular way I do it, but I start on the inner corners and work my way out. Circular motions should work good too. That and a good brush. I don't use a blending brush or any of that fancy stuff, I just have one good Mac brush that I use.

i also only have one brush... its a bobbie brown angled brush.... what shape is yours?

I've never done windshield wiper on the lids. I've always gone in one direction: inner to outer, or outer to inner with smokey eyes.

Lightly patting on your eyeshadow then blending works. Don't use too much e/s, just start with a little then work your way to the look you want.

i just bought a new brush at an art store specifically for hard to blend shades.

i actually have four blending brushes a ponytail brush, a crease brush, a smudge foam tip, and my new one.

what i love about my new one is that when i wet apply two COMPLETELY different colors, it has enough grip to brush the colors together in a few small strategic sweeps. i dont use it for general blending because it takes pigment off a bt easily so i only use it for dramatic use.

i really think the magic in blending is your tools your using.

I blend my e/s up and out using a "pull and flick" motion. Out of all the techniques I have tried, this one seems to work best for me. The key is to go with what you find most effective for you.

When blending the crease into the browbone, small circular motions work REALLY well.

When blending two colors on the lid, blend in one motion, from the lightest color to the darkest color. But only blend exactly where the two colors meet.

And I want to repeat what some of the girls are saying that brushes make all the difference. A brush shaped similar to this should help you out a lot:
