I am *still* getting blackheads and having uneven texture! I switched back to my old standby faves (neutrogena) but I am now more dry than ever! And I am getting tons of blackheads on my foreheand and chin...even thought I get oily throughout the day, I still feel dry and sometimes am peeling. Anyone have any recommendations? My face is making me crazy!!

I'm super-oily, tons of blackheads EVERYWHERE and I do get dry patches, which are still oily, which makes it an icky icky problem. I don't know what to do for myself, so I can't really offer any advice. Maybe someone else will help us out!

Have you thought about trying Biore? I've heard good things about them. I believe St. Ives even has an Apricot Scrub now designed for blackheads.

This is happening because you are overdrying your face...causing the skin to flake which then causes it to produce more oil and the combination equals clogged pores. It's a viscious cycle.

I too used the think that I needed to do whatever I could to dry up the oil and I had this same problem for years.

What you need to do is get rid of the dry top layer, do this with a combination of exfoliation (but not too harsh) and moisturization. I fought it for years....I said NO way am I added moisturizer to my oil slick....once I finally gave it a try, the skin quit overproducing oil.

It really is best to use super gentle products. Cetaphil Cleanser is really mild and recomended by a lot of derms.

Glycolic peels will help dissovle the flakes, a BHA spot treatment will get down into the pores and help get the ickies out. Oil free moisturizer is a must for flakey skin, Once you get the flakey, dry layer gone you may by able to skip the moisturizer as long as you keep using non drying products.

I think over the course of my lifetime I've tried everything for blackheads, and found nothing really really works. I mean, right after washing they're hardly noticeable, and I can definitely hide them with mu, but they're still always there. Anyone know how to get them out of your ears? For some reason I get blackheads in my ears a lot, and Nick was kind enough to point out today that I apparently have a lot in my right ear...

Angie, that's a great advice

Paulas Choice make a BHA product in a number of different varities, so that might be worth checking out.

Avon has a color changing mask that seems to help me...it doesn't take them all away, but it does shrink them down a bit. For the ears, I know this may sound odd, but i wash my ears with facewash, because it seems to help, i get blackheads in them now and then too! For extraction, i use either a bobby pin or one of those actual extraction tools. But It seems like blackheads are here to stay for everyone I've talked too! I'm still working on getting the combination of products down!
