Does anyone else have sensitive skin? Mine is super-sensitive with rosacea ... I have dryish skin, but anything too emollient breaks me out and most products for oily skin are too harsh. I have a really hard time finding products that work for me. If it doesn't break me out, then it just irritates my skin.

I'd love to hear what other sensitive skin girls use in terms of skincare, bodycare, foundation, concealer, eye makeup, etc. I'm also allergic to mica so I have problems with just regular makeup, too. Sometimes I wonder if I should just not wear any mu. :icon_razz

I also have super sensitive, red cranky skin. Mine is dry but oily in the t-zone. I have had some success with the oil cleansing method (castor and jojoba) and making my own moisturizer (aloe juice, rose hip seed oil and essential oils). I had to take matters into my own hands b/c of all the chemicals in everything were making my skin go crazy.

I'm sure there are some good lines out there for sensitive skin, hopefully someone can suggest something for you.

Are you sure its the mica you are allergic to? It could be the Bismuth Oxyclorides (might be spelled wrong) or paraben preservatives.

Hi there, There is this one product that is great for dry/sensitive skin called cetaphil. If your skin is dry then why are you using products for oily skin? It'll only worsen your condition. I recommend this product. Check out this page too if you'd like. Also try olive oil before you sleep. Maybe not all emollients cause you to break out. So that you could know whats best for you, you must try different things and experience the results.

Becksabee, i have some of the same problems you have. My whole body is dry. I use Aveeno lotion on it plus either Aveeno body wash or one for dry, sensitive skin. Noting with perfume. My face gets reall bad. It is super dry and sensitive and, along with a lot of allergies, i always have breakouts. if my moisturizer isn't goopy enough it feels as though i have a mask on, but, if it's too goopy then i also break out. Summertime is the worst. My pores are invisible and with the thick moisturizer my skin can't breathe so it breaks out in painful welted rashes. I use reg. Eucerin cream mixed with a little jojoba oil, for the consistency. I use cetaphil cleanser, the moisturizer isn't thick enough for me. My foundation is Cover Girl hydrating, although it doesn't have enough coverage for me. I just ordered a foundation stick from Cory's Minerals. I have lots of broken veins on my face also. I dread the summer as it's so hot and humid here. I have to wear makeup to cover the rashes but my skin can't breathe because of the moisturizer. I get very depressed in the summer because of the way i look and feel.

I have very dry skin, and sensitive. I use L'Oreal Hydrafresh mousturizer at the moment, I really like it. I've been using Kanebo silk peeling powder for a while to exfoliate, my skin gets really red if I use a normal exfoliator but this is ideal for sensitive skin, very soft and smooth

I have sensitive skin too. I agree with MissLoveley of using cetaphil products. I use the body lotion and I love it!. For my face, I have dry combination skin, dry on cheek and oily on T-zone. I am using Shu Uemura's Depsea Equiwater. It acts sort of like a toner but better because it balances the moisture level of the skin. And the best thing is that it doesn't cause irritation for me..

Also, in the morning I use Paula's choice moisturizer SPF 15 for oily/comination skin. It works really well!. But don't use the SPF 30, it causes major skin irritation.

Hope this helps!

I also use cetaphil and I really like it. It has never irritated my skin and it leaves me feeling clean but not all dried out. Face lotions are really hard for me to find but right now I'm using neutragena's for sensitive skin no fragrance no spf. For some reason any spf in lotion really makes me feel like I just got a chemical peel. but I agree with the cetaphil advise

It's entirely possible.

My doctor has always told me that it's mica, but I can use virtually any cream/liquid eyeshadow - it's mostly the powder ones that bother me. And of course, even the creams have mica in them.

I use Oil of Olay for sensitive skin & Weleda skin products for my dry & sensitive skin.

Juls, i agree with you about anything with spf. I always get a burning rash. I use a sunblock form Vanicream. It has hardly anything in it and doesn't break me out, although it's only a 35. If i need something stronger i use Neutrogena for sensitive skin which is a little higher. I do need a lighter moisturizer for the summer but most leave my skin with that tight feeling. Someone mentioned neutrogena for sensitive skin. Is this a lotion or moisturizer?

I just joined this site a couple of days ago and have found out more information in that time than i have in yrs. Thanks.

I just got the BEST book and it will probably help you: The Skin Type Solution by Leslie Baumann MD. There is a 40% off coupon if you google it. The best book for my cranky skin. I'm so excited to try the recommendations. I bet it will help you determine whats making your skin so sensitive. It has really helped me since I last posted on this topic.

I have very sensitive skin(combination, dry, prone to clogged pores)

Products that worked for me:

Avene spf 50 lotion

Kanebo silk peeling powder

Boots no 7 makeup remover

Aubrey Organic Rose hip seed oil

EL Lucidity loose powder

Everyday Minerals foundation (intensive)

Products that did not work( and they were for sensitive skin)

Avene spf 50 cream(too heavy)

Avene micellaire solution(too much fragrance)

LRP Effaclar micellaire solution(too drying)

Cetaphil cleanser(drying)

Klorane cleanser for delicate skin(I think i was allergic to calendula)

I've recently started using Cetaphil and my sensitive, acne-prone skin has been doing well with it. Also Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (started about the same time as the Cetaphil). I highly recommend Cetaphil cream for hands & body. Long ago when I was having a lot of trouble with excema, my dermatologist recommended Curel cream, but I haven't been able to find that in years. The Cetaphil works just as well though. I try to avoid products with any kind of fragrances.

I suggest Aveeno, even though I haven't really tried much of their products (I started a thread on it to see what other people thought of it, so if you want to know as well you could go check it out), except a sample of a moisterizer with spf. It clears up blemishes.

There's actually a line of it called Ultra Calming I think and it reduces redness and soothes irritated skin. Aveeno is really gentle so I , since I myself has sensitive skin, want to try it.

Makeup though, I have no clue. I only wear a little of concealer to hide my circles and mascara. I once tried to put bronzer on and I immeadietly broke out in a rash all over my cheeks =/

Hi all! My skin in very, very sensitive.

Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash is a hg for me. I use other stuff but this has been a staple in my bathroom for the last 3 years. It really doesn't have much of a smell and it gets all of my makeup off. And it's never irritated my skin. I also use Neutrogana's Deep Clean cream cleanser. I was scared it would break me out but it didn't. It has that tingly thing going on.

And uh, I'm kind of scared to say this on this forum b/c I'm new and I don't know if this has ever been discussed on here yet but.........I also use regular Dove soap. Just plain dove soap in the bar form. It works wonders for me. It's got moisturizers in it. It's better than that Clinique liquid soap (which tore my skin up I hate Clinique). Oh,but I do use Cliniuqe All About Eyes Rich. That's my only Clinique product. That's all. HTH
