I was just curious to know if anybody else out there happens to share my love of Middle Eastern dance. I thought it would be cool to see what level everyone is at and to have a thread that offers tips, support, etc. for this beautiful dance style.

I have been belly dancing for about 3 months now (I'm a beginner!) but I absolutely love the way it makes me feel! My favorite move is the Camel, but I still need to work on my belly roll!

Feel free to share your belly dance experience (even if it only includes doing the exercise DVDs)!!

I like a lot belly dancing but i've never done classes (even though i want to start on August) and here in brazil we don't have exercises dvds teaching how to do it. But i'd love to hear about the others experience ;

I have always wanted to learn!! I have done tap, jazz, lyrical and pointe nearly my whole life - so I am sure I could pick up on this hehe

Belly Dance DVDs

You should def give it a try! Not only is it fun, but it also helps to belly dance when your "monthly friend" comes to visit! That's a nice little bonus, IMO.

Bellydancing always looks like soo much fun, but I have never tried it. Maybe one day I will get up the nerve to try something new.

I love to watch it...but have never tried it...sheesh..I do well to learn some of our Native American dances ..I am so lazy..LOL

I'd love to take belly dancing classes! Heck, I'd love to take ballroom dancing lessons too! Belly dancing looks like a lot of fun, and they say people lose weight and tone their bodies nicely from it! I'll definitely have to at least look into some DVDs! Thanks for the tip(s) sweetie!

Thanks for the tips on dvds! But i still think that everyone here would be making fun of me because i bought a belly dancing dvd

Belly Dancing looks SOOO fun! I want to learn how to do it! I think they offer it at my university!

Yes, belly dance is wonderfull but I've never tried it. Mavbe in future, but now latin dances and salsa are all my life.

OMG I love bellydancing! I did it for about a month and had so much fun! and then my friend quit giving classes.. so now i'm trying to find some more classes here..

Because i can do some of the moves and stuff.. but i'd like to do it in a choreographed form, which is why i'm desperatly trying to find another bellydance school

I have always wanted to learn also. Is it hard to do? I have been told that it does wonders for the ab region...

I know they offer it at my school and we have a dance group on campus that I'm involved in too. It's sooo cool learning about the technique and the culture behind belly dancing

Oh yeah, you gotta find another class. I'm trying to choreograph a dance for our group at school this summer, so I can teach the rest of the girls when school starts in the fall. I have been watching videos and learing some really cool moves. I'm soooo excited!

Originally Posted by ruby I have always wanted to learn also. Is it hard to do? I have been told that it does wonders for the ab region... It isn't "hard," but it takes practice, just like evey other dance form. If you're really interested, I recommend you check out this website for more information:

They have A LOT of useful info!

I've always been wanting to learn belly dance. But never really got the chance. If i have a chance, definitely i'll learn it. I love it. Its the sexiest dance in the world. I wanna show to my man. I'm sure it'll drive him crazy.

One of my best friends teaches a class and I finally got up the nerve this past week to go. I had so much fun! I'm going to continue going every week and I just wish I had listened to her and went when she first started teaching.

I love bellydance! It's my 5th year like studentd

It's same so dificult but, really, is easy! When teacher show how do a movement, you only have to practice and you will look that it's very easy.

i love it but Im no good at it. Its kinda embarassing. At my studio, i do pole, but mixed in with it is some belly. Which sucks, because Im pretty good at pole. But hey, i have fun doing it, so what the hell

I would also like to learn, but I'd rather learn from a class than from a dvd, and I don't know of any classes in my area. I do have a a video for beginners I could get started with again, so I guess I'll have to dig that out from somewhere.

Oh, don't learn with a DVD. It's dangerous because a teacher usually say you if you are using muscles correctly and, if you learn at home, nobody can see if you are doing movements in correct form and it can be danger for you body.
