Greetings Makeup Talk members!

That time of the year is fast approaching! You know what we’re talking about: the time you start making holiday shopping lists and rack your brains on what to buy for your loved one. Or when you daydream about what you would like Santa to bring you this year - and don’t you want to evoke a reaction like this?

This is why we, the team at Makeup Talk, have come up with a plan to help you find guidance and inspiration for the upcoming holiday shopping madness. We’re planning to publish a useful and well-researched gift guide covering the following areas:

  1. Makeup
  2. Makeup Brushes and Tools
  3. Sample Subscription Programs
  4. Skincare
  5. Hair
  6. Nails
  7. Body and Fragrance
But we need your help! Here’s how your invaluable expertise with beauty products can come into play:

  • Think of a product in each of these categories that you’ve been using and really love. Think of whether you’d like to gift it to someone you love (or you secretly want it for yourself.)
  • Leave a comment in this thread on why you love that particular product or go to any one the other threads listed above. We encourage your feedback in more than one category but if time’s not on your side, we’re happy to get your input in at least the area you feel most knowledgeable or passionate about.
We’ll then use some of our magic techie tools to compile your feedback into a comprehensive holiday gift outline. And best of all: we’ll give credit in the final piece to those of you who contributed a lot.

If you’d like to get notified when the guide comes out, subscribe to this thread or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you all in advance and really looking forward to your posts!

Best,

I think perfume is really personal and completely different per person. I want flowerbomb. I had one and now it's almost gone so I need a refill. I think it's a great fragrance for anyone really.

Anything Bath and Body Works makes a great gift. They usually have gift sets as well which makes it a little easier.

I'll second these ladies! Great suggestions.. 1. Perfume or cologne is a great gift, a bit personal and something I reserve for a sweetheart or good friend. I like rollerballs as gift options; if the scent isn't liked, it's only a small cost as opposed to a full sized bottle. 2. Bath and Body Works make great gift baskets or have tons of different products to choose from. Yep, pretty much anything by them..I especially like their True Blue Spa hand cremes.. 3. Bath oils or fizzies are fun! I keep hearing good things about Lush; maybe if I keep dropping the brand's name, one of my friends will get me something lol. 4. Spa tools like sponges, exfoliating gloves, bath pillows..these are fun to throw together with other items in homemade gift sets. 5. Philosophy 3 in 1 gels! I love these and am always happy to get my hands on more. Besides, it's shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath! You basically cover head to toe with one item. ;p 6. Body butters, especially the She's Terra brand..I adore the Vanilla Bourbon and Bananas & Boababs scents.

I also really like stuff from Lush : ) they have some of the cutest bath bombs during the Holidays.

Bath:

1. Bath and Body Works is always amazing to give or receive. They have the yummiest holiday scented shower gels with scents like Creamy Pumpkin and Vanilla Noel. Their shower gels also don't dry skin out. They leave you nice and smooth.

2. LUSH is a huge favorite amongst true bath item junkies. They have rich, amazing bath products.

Body:

1. Shea Terra Whipped Body Butter in Marula, Gingered Pumpkin or Bananas & Baobabs are a must have for this holiday season. I only recently discovered this company this year but their products are out of this world. Super moisturizing, smells amazing and great company ethics.

Fragrance:

1. My favorite scent hands down is Sarong by Theme Fragrance. It is a tropical scent with coconut, vanilla and night flower tones. It is simply amazing and I always get compliments wherever I go.

2. Warm Vanilla Sugar from Bath and Body Works is a well liked favorite by many. It is a nice sweet comforting smell without being overpowering.

I have more fragrance ideas. I looove fragrances so I usually have 5 on my Christmas list. Just added 2 today. Katy perry - meow: I am NOT a fan of Katy but this is a yummy perfume! Kind of on the sweet side tho! Tom Ford - Black Orchid: I hear a lot of people talking about this and never thought to smell it. I was at cco today and they had a solid version and fell in love. It's a bit older to me but it smells so good.

I have some of the TF Black Orchid and while it appears mature..It really wears well on me and the bottle is sexy and uber chic looking!
