Backcombing

I really love the 60's styles with the heavy backcombing at the crown. Kinda like these pictures. I have heard backcombing with a toothbrush works better for this style; however what are all your thoughts on how to achieve this style?

id say lots of hairspray and volumizing shampoo, and also comb your hair backwards to create volume underneath, then spray with hairspray.

Yep!!! Whole lotta teasing!! lol Start fom the back part of the crown, tease from the back, and work your way i n1" sections to the front. then smooth the hair that's on top to cover the backcombing. You can also backcomb the front of the hair to make it go in a certain "direction" ... but go over it lighty to smooth it all together. Then spray it. Remember... alwas comb it out before you go to bed or you will have a really "fun" time trying to get all those knots out in the morning!!!
