I recently read an article that interested me..I would pull it up, but I forgot the site! Anyways, it discussed the debate of if it's possible to become addicted to lip balm. It said that you really can't become dependent on it..(lol), but people can get used to the feeling of their lips being smooth, soft, and supple and use their lip balms constantly, which causes them to dry out, in severe cases people have to seek treatment from physician. Crazy, huh? We love our lip balm.

I love lipbalm but i'm not addicted as far as I know. I can go a day without it but I lick my lips a lot when I don't have any balm on so that can be a problem.

I remeber reading an article in 17 magazine like 5 years ago about a girl who as mentally addicted to chapstick. She would put it on between bites of food during meals and even missed a midterm just to go to the store and buy some chapstick!

I don't know.....I definitely think it's possible to become physically addicted to lip balm (we all know it's possible psychologically!!). I used to be a lip balm addict...but I forced myself to stop using it and take the dryness. After a while, it stopped getting dry! But if I put lip balm on too much and go cold turkey for even a few hours, it starts to get dry again. But when I'm not in my "addicted" state, I could easily go one or 2 days without lip balm and my lips won't naturally get dry.

LOVE IT & USE IT ALL THE TIME! I currently have about 6-7 lip balms total... Three in my purse, two in my bedroom and one in my traincase! I can't go without it either though... I get those lovely dry, chapped lips with the cracks in the corners (OW!)... I'm not as bad as I used to be, but I'm still pretty bad about it *lol*

I love lip balm and use it everyday. But it's not an addiction because when I got lazy I can go for days without it.

I used to get those cracks in the corners of my lips..just so you know it's most likely a sign of a defincency of riboflavin! lol I looked it up b/c I used to get those like madd, and it wasn't from chapped lips. You can correct it by taking b2 vitamens. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I only use my lip balm at night before bed, unless my lips are painfully chapped. I've heard that people can get addicted to lip balm, and I never want that to happen to me!

Alright Ladies,

Looks like I am going to need some assistance with this lip balm thing.

I read that lip junk that is medicated like blistex, carmex, etc. will make your lips worse and to use something without medication.

My problem is i need somthing on my lips all the time whether it be chapstick or lipstick. How can i make the dry feeling go away??? :scream3:

Its an awful feeling to have. I thought it might be lack of h2o but I drink plenty of water so i know im not dehydrated but i dont ever remember having this type of problem.

Any further suggestions????:help:

Quit (almost) cold turkey!! Force yourself to only put it on once per day....it's gonna hurt, but it'll pass...

i really think mine does border on obession. i keep some in my robe pocket when i'm around the house. i keep some in my makeup bag in my purse and i also have an extra with my makeup in case i can't find the other two. i have several types and i use them all. sue's amazing lip stuff if the one i like the most, but i also have mary kay satin lips and 2 sticks of chapstick medicated. after i wash my makeup off in the evening i slather it on as long as i'm awake.

yes! i have like 5 rosebud salves around the house/in my purse

I don't know if this counts...but I must put vaseline on my lips for bedtime. If I am mid sleep and I forgot to put some on, I will get up and get it. I don't think I'm addicted but I like howit keeps my lips soft and moisturized overnight.hn

lol! i JUST bought Blistex lip infusion 20 mins ago....tastes good, looks like a gloss..but lasting power not so good. I can never wear lipstick without lipbalm!

I catch myself being crazy addicted by lip balms, and that's because my lips are soooo dry and because none of them work I keep applying them every 10 minutes, but not always! Mostly at home night.

I only use it when I'm really dry, and then only overnight so that I don't have that problem. I've also read that it's possible to get "addicted" to the menthol feeling of balms, so I avoid them like the plague.
