So I am a blonde, I always have been and always will be at heart...But I am a restless blonde who needs to do something different every time I enter the salon. I have been all different shades of blonde from incredibly over processed to brassy.  However, now I'm thinking of going brown, I want to get low-lights first just so I can get used to it, but I really do want to dye my hair brown eventually.  I went brown for about a week a few years back but went back to blonde because I wasn't used to it being so drastic, thinking back on it now I wish I would have kept it, but I refuse to ever do something that drastic again for fear of the same reaction.  It's hard to find anything that goes with my skin tone but I find blonde almost clashes with it, I want a color that will warm up my face, since I am usually pale with yellow/pink undertones, I need a color compatible with my skin tone.

My hair with darker low-lights and bright blonde highlights, just to give an idea of what I look like with blonde in my hair.

my hair after not being done for a while, it gets incredibly brassy and not as vibrant, but this is my skin tone during the winter time.

I think you will look greater with dark colors ... just my opinion, and go ahead you have nothing to lose.

I like both of your hair colors. Looks good on you! It's nice to change your hair color once in a while so as not to look boring. But what to watch out for is having a dry hair because of hair dyes. On the other hand, there are products out there that brings back the moisture of your hair.

Fortunately for me, even after years of high volume to low volume bleach my hair isn't dry. I use a protein spray daily and it does wonders for my hair. My only problem is when my hair gets too long my ends start to become dry and break off. But the protein spray seems to be prolonging my ends.

Good for you! My hair gets really dry when I color it that's why I only color it when I really have to for certain occasion. You can just trim your hair to cut off the split ends (if you have any) and you can use rake combs to avoid break offs.

Yeah, I hear ya, my hair is really fine and it has gone through some heavy damage at points in my life. I'm really finicky about my ends so I get them cut regularly to make sure they don't break off. But I only get highlights and I don't use bleach to actually dye my hair, just foils.

I am not sure how comfortable you are with go8ing away from blonde. I am naturally blonde and also wear difefrent variations of blonde throughout the year. Last year in the winter I slowly switched over to a strawberry blonde like Isla fisher and went darker from there until it was a nice dark brown with red undertones. It looked great with blue eyes and my pale face. However for the summer I went back blonde and the process going to the color and then switching back to blonde is a pain as it takes a few times of coloring. This year i am going with highlights and lowlights. It's a nice caramel blonde right now and we have very similar skin tones.

When I went brown for a week the process of going blond again was a pain. My stylist was amazing though and knew just what to do so I gradually went back to blond with highlights; it actually turned out really pretty when she put them in on top of the brown.  Unfortunately, going any other color blond makes my hair really brassy and clashes with my skin tone because any type of golden or red blond makes my skin look sallow; and because my skin is really thin I get red undertones sometimes when I'm hot or embarrassed, any type of golden or red blond would accentuate that. I wish I could do more with my hair, but I'm really self-conscious about my skin.

@ColorsGalore I get that! I have naturally reddish cheeks and it took a while for me to get that shade that looked just right (about three coloring sessions i think) where it was a perfect mix. I also do nothave the patience to do that this year. If you want something different, what about a peek-a-boo highlight or lowlight to accentuate your current color?

Well what I'm thinking of doing is getting like chocolate brown lowlights with honey blond highlights, I'm not sure how it will turn out because I have never done that before, but we will see; that's the plan for Thanksgiving break!

That sounds awesome!! I am due to get my hair done for our vacation in two weeks as well. My stylist is a close friend and I just tell her: whatever you know will look good i am happy with. She always does it so it looks a little different than the last time. it sounds like your hair will look great! Post pictures, please!
