OK ladies, I hope this is a skin care question. So I'm 6 months pregnant in Atlanta (read: hot and humid), and I can't stop sweating. It's so gross. Can anyone recommend a product that will really help stop the wetness? When I was pregnant w/ my daughter, it got so bad that I got a RASH under my arms, like prickly heat. Yeah, not pretty.

Thanks!

heather

Thanks, I think I've tried everything BUT certain dri! Tomorrow is grocery day, so maybe I'll pick some up then.

i have never seen certain dri in a grocery store, but drugstores always carry it....it saved my life back when i used to get dressed up for work, what a nightmare, even in cold weather I was always wet under the arms and I was considering going to a doctor when i saw certain dri in a magazine article...the stuff is awesome!!!! Its a little more $$$ than most deodorants BUT after you use it for a while, you don't even need to use it everyday so one bottle lasts me about 3 months.

My boyfriend sweats profusely, even in winter. He was considering getting botox in his pits. I recentl saw and thread on another board where people used Drysol. I guess it prescription anti perspirant but its OTC in Canada and supposedly it's awesome. I bought some for him to try but he's only on his second day so I don't know if it's working for him yet. I also don't know if it's ok for pregnant women. I got mine off ebay, do a search and Im sure you'll get lots of info.

Yikes! I just tried Certain Dri tonight. I bought it at Target today since I saw it mentioned here. I had never heard of it before. Anyway, I don't sweat extremely badly but usually my pits are wet by nighttime. I followed the directions (haven't shaved today, and made sure my pits were clean and dry before applying, and only applied 2 short strokes of the roll-on). Then, after about 1 minute of letting the roll-on dry, I began to feel a stinging-itching-burning sensation. I decided to give it a minute to go away, but then I went to a mirror and looked at my pits and they were all red except right in the middle. They started to itch really bad so I got the Dove soap and scrubbed them with a wash cloth. I scrubbed and scrubbed because they were itching so bad. Then I dried them and the itch seems to be gone. I am going to hold off on putting on my regular deodorant tonight.

For my regular deodorant, I recently started using Arrid Extra Dry and it is performing well. The powder scents of Dove and Ban are my runners up. I am allergic to Secret and the old cheap brand called Hi & Dri (I don't even know if it is on the market anymore).

i was going to try this ...but after reading your post .. i think i'll hold off on buying certain dri

I think you should go to your nearest chemist and the pharmacist can probably recommend something for you, especially because it sounds as though you have sensitive underarms!

5 Day Antiperspirant & Deodorant Pads

http://www.drugstore.com/products/pr...-PLST-0-SEARCHIt has worked wonders for my sister Rose and has stopped the prickly heat rashes.

I tried it and still had odor... what works for me is Mitchem for women. http://www.walgreens.com/store/produ...edBrand=301895

Sometimes I have even resorted to Mitchem for Menhttp://www.walgreens.com/store/productlist.jsp?CATID=100241&selectedBrand=2054

Diabetic Neuropathy has wrecked havoc on my sweat glands and I perspire MOST of the time. UGH!!!!

Mitchem helps keep the odor under control.

^ yeah i find mitchum really good, wasnt sure if you had it in US but its super, i use the roll on and it works really well without aggrivating my sensitive underarm area

Heather, I just moved from Augusta, GA, so I know exactly what you mean about the heat & humidity! I have very high pH levels, and since my first daughter, I sweat like crazy now! It's not a problem I had before having kids. Anyway, I use Secret Platinum Invisible Solid and it works great for me! It's actually the only deodorant/anti-perspirant I've been able to use without getting all sweaty and stinky in my under arm area. I'm wondering if the Soothing Care Anti-Chafing Gel by Monistat we've been using as primer might help... They have an anti-sweating product too I believe... Good luck! I definitely know how badly that sucks!

Believe it or not teen spirit stick works! Aside from me using it myself mother and aunts use it! It sounds weird but it really does work!

There is a a natural deodorant available at drugstores called Crystal. It's in a purplish container. You might also try Tom's of Maine if it is available in your area. I've never tried either, but perhaps you could find something in the Reviews section!

I know once my mom moved to Houston (which dare I say is even hotter and more humid than Atlanta) her skin had really bad reaction to the heat and humid. She got rashes on almost every part of her body. The only thing the doctors could do is give her steroids once in a while because creams and such didn't work. The only thing that helped is when she moved the hell out of there to a cooler, drier area

Thanks so much for all the replies. I'm going to the store today and will find SOMETHING. Four more months of pregnancy is too much to feel like this all the time!
