I know many girls on here like the Avon's Anew Clinical 2-step peel pads. I was thinking about buying them. Any opinions on that would be great...like how was your experience? Has anybody tried Anew's skin brightener? My main concern is to get rid of red spots/acne scars. On to my main question:

The Anew kit says to use it every other day, and it has 10% glycolic acid, while with other peels like L'Oreal's, your only supposed to use it once a week, but it also has 10%. It doesn't make sense to me. I was thinking maybe it was because the Anew peel is in pads, and L'Oreals is not? What do you guys think about this?

interesting question, I´d like to know too. I am gonna order the Avon Peel in the next days, I´m so excited to try it!!!

10% glycolic acid is a bit strong to use every other day. Try it out 1 a week, then work yourself up to more depending on how your skin handles it. I am a licensed esthetician, and while I was in school I used some glycolic pads that we were trying out. They were a little bit stronger than the 10% I think they were 15 or 20 , however I tried them and liked them the first day and I thought that it was all good to use them again, well even though it was few days later, I wound up burning myself two small patches on my face that took a while to go away. It was horrible. But it just goes to show you that with acids you have to be really really careful. The burned spots did not show up the same day either, they showed up the next day. The acids are going to make you rskin that much more sensitive, so also you have to be careful when waxing ( if you do) and even using scrubs.

Also glycolic acid can cause hyper pigmentation in some skin types, so make sure that while you are using the treatment you are using a strong spf and avoiding sun as much as possible.

Just be careful and use in moderation, at the first sign of irritation, stop and wait a while, and make sure that you are not layering too many acids, like using an acid to wash your face and then in your face cream and then the pads.

I hope this helped.

Thank-you spiralz! I was skeptical because I mean that is harsh and that is exactly what the directions say. But I will be careful-you just reminded me of a lot of things like the spf thing! I tan in the tanning bed, but the beds I lay in don't have facial tanners so hopefully that will be ok, as long as I wear sunblock while I'm laying I suppose. I will have to buy a facial tanner though so I don't look wierd!

I have a 10% glycolic acid toner from DDF and I use it every other day no problem. And I have dry skin that can be sensitive at times. I don't think it would hurt to use it daily (if it says you can and if you build up to it. )

Are you for real? Geez, and I just started doing peels for the sole purpose of evening out my skin tone and now you're saying it could make it worse? <head reels> I DID notice two small light brownish spots after I did my first peel. Didn't think anything of it because I just figured it was some sort of purging thing going on ... and they went away within 3-4 days.

I ordered a 40% lactic peel as Kim had suggested in another post because the lactic is supposed to be the best AHA/BHA for evening out skin tone. I was going to switch and do glycolic one week and lactic the next week, but now I think I'll stay with the lactic when it gets here.

hi dolphin...

i would suggest MDskincare alpha beta peel pads...you can use these every day and they make your skin MARVELOUS...if you are doing peels for skin discoloration--i would suggest instead using a product in the morning that contains hydroquinone...(i think thats the spelling) paulas choice has a great product called remarkable skin lightening lotion--and its relatively inexpensive and works wonders...it basically took away most of my freckles, andi had a TON....i wouldnt over do the peels.

The Avon system gave me acne which I haven't had a problem with in years. I'm sticking with microderm abrassion as an exfoliant.

Thanks, R&Rgoddes! My skin tone isn't terribly uneven/discolored, but it could definitely use something. I'll look into that hydroquinone stuff.

I used to use the Avon 2-step peel and I have to say for the money, it really did work well. I helped even out my skin tone, bring a glow to my face, and helped w/ my pore size. I used it every other day because even though it did say 10% glycolic peels, it was a lot lower than that. I no longer use it because I only like to use "clean" (no added fillers) on my face, which the Avon product does contain.

mdskincare...recommended in the book future face by dr. gross...they are awesome...alphabeta peels---available at sephora. I really like them--my skin is smooth as a babies butt...

In other threads, I know Kim (Naturally) has recommended PH Advantage's pads if pads are what you're looking for, you use those once a week and I believe those are available at Sephora as well. I use lactic acid peels once a week from here since this is better for my skin type but they also have glycolic acid too as well as from here. The prices are very good at both places plus they have samples you can try to see if this works well for your skin.
