Okay, so I have a good question for you... I have longish eyebrows, which therefore means I try to trim them. I brush them upwards, and then trim the ends of the hairs along the natural line of the top of my eyebrows (does that make sense?). What I've noticed is that I still get stray hairs that seem misplaced even after using something to make them behave before I fill them in. Without sounding like an idiot, or running the risk of looking foolish later, I need to know if I shouldn't possibly "trim" them a little more, just slightly differently... Heck, I don't even know if I just made any sense! If I did, any suggestions???

My brows are super thick & long, so every so often I will carefully trim them. Be careful though not to cut too much or you'll have an awkward bald spot!

Joy's right. You must be very careful when trimming your brows. Some clients I've worked on would have a stray hair that would be more dense than the others. The trick was not to tweeze it, but rather very carefully trim it down to blend it in with the other hairs.

Also, do you use a clear brow gel or clear mascara to tame the stray hair?

You made sense to me. I have the same problem and do about the same thing you do. I brush them straight up and use a pair of cuticle scissors to get the scragglies. I am scared that one day a door is going to slam or something then whoops..........no more eyebrow, but so far so good. I can't stand those bushy things and now i'm getting 2 or 3 little silver ones. Now that sucks.

i brush and trim only the long ones that stand out. then i tweeze them. you have to be careful about making sure they're even and not to go pluck crazy or something! lol! i think eyebrows are the hardest makeup technique to master. they're simple, yet soo difficult to perfect. at least for me.

aquilah, if these misplaced hairs are way under the browbone, i would pluck them individually, but carefully. i wouldn't do it all at once. i would pluck and then review my face-its easy to get carried away

does this make sense??? i hope. let me know how it work out

I comb mine up and then cut with tiny scissors if i comb them down i know ill take off more than i have to.

You could try a brow wax to keep the hairs in place. That always works for me but, of course I get a stray hair here and there that drives me crazy but, I think the brow wax helps alot.

Well, I've started using Stila Brow Polish, which is a cream gel you could say. I'm still having the problem. Basically, my brows are about as long as my lashes... I've always, always, always had unruly brows. This is nothing new, and it's always been a problem. I just wondered if I shouldn't so much as attempt as "shortening" them as well as continue to trim along the natural line at the top of the brow. You know how they use that new razor that is safe to even touch a balloon with? Maybe using that with it's comb attachment head so as ensure I don't take off too much... What about that?

i comb down as well. i've tried combing up but it just doesn't seem to work as well for me. i quess what ever works!

i don't think you need to pluck above the brow, unless there are a few strays. it's really what is comfortable to you. long brows aren't necessarily a bad thing either. a lot of people have short brows that want them to be longer. they should begin at the tear duct and stop just past the outer corner of the eye, and the arch should start right above the iris of the eye. i've never heard of a tool like that, but i do agree with mac whore about a waxing. i just had one done and they look great! you can go to a brow specialist and they will do everything..wax, pluck, shape..then all you have to do is maintain that shape. stencils are also an option...have you visited eyebrowz.com?

Kristen, I don't mean the shape of the brows is long or short, I mean the hairs themselves are long. I combed them up again using a dry mascara wand instead of my brow brush, and I was able to trim the hairs that were sticking over the brow line. They're looking better and more manageable now. The problem is that the hairs are long and like to curl on me. Anywho! I think I fixed myself *lmao*
I don't think it would've been wise for me to comb/brush down as I think I would've trimmed WAY too much off! So, I'm pretty much set. Using the mascara wand helped a lot as it extended the hairs to their fullest extent. Thanks so much everyone for your help!

you could try using a gel to keep them in place. with me, if i cut too much thinking i needed to, it ends up looking crap. but with an eyebrow gel or clear mascara, you can just brush the stray hair into place. does that make sense?
