hi everyone!

have you any self experience with almond oil? Have you ever applied it on your skin?

Is that safe for every type of skin?

thanks

I've used it and had no problem with it.  I know sweet almond oil is common in most massage oils.  I do have acne prone skin.

Sweet almond oil is great on my skin!  I love it.  Its a lighter oil so it doesn't feel greasy, it doesn't smell and it doesn't clog my pores.  Its in my current face moisturizer formulation.  I love it.  I put it on at night, I wake up and my skin feels so soft.  Its also very inexpensive.

How are you planning to use it?

well i have dry skin so i am sort of confused if to use it or not. But after reading your comments, i would like to give it a try.

But what do you suggest, should i apply oil directly on my face? /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

or should i go for the products which has almond oil as an ingredient.

It's fantastic ! It's very mild so it's good also for sensitive skins and kids. Check the baby section of your supermarket, you may find one bottle there :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Or check pharmacies, healthfood stores. It's pretty inexpensive. Just make sure it's 100% pure.

You can definitely apply oil directly on your face, start with a few drops :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Wet a cotton pad with warm water (or floral water, for a gentle one chamomile or witchazel are great), add a few drops of almond oil, and apply it on your eyes. It removes every trace of makeup, even waterproof mascara. Rinse well as it may make your eyes look a bit puffy otherwise.

I use the same method on my face too. Another method i use is to apply the oil on my face, massage it then rinse, and it washes your skin that way.

For products with almond oil inside, it's also an option. I can't help but suggest Weleda's almond hydrating cream, it's one of my all time favorite moisturizers. They have another cream that is a bit thicker and more targeted towards dry skins, they both work well.

I personally enjoy making my own creams.

Here's a quick recipe that I use sometimes:

1 teaspoon lecithin ( you can buy them in capsules at a healthfood store or the vitamin section of a grocery store)

6 teaspoons of hydrosol or distilled water

2 teaspoons of oil - in this case, you'd use almond oil

Use a clean stir stick or a milk foamer or small whisk to combine.  The lecithin is an emulsifier that will combine the water and oil and turn it to a cream.  You can add some essential oils to give it a scent but it's not necessary.  I usually use rose water so it comes with a scent already.  Because you are not using just the almond oil, it doesn't leave your face all greasy.

Like all things DIY, it may cost you a little more to buy all the ingredients but once you have them, you can probably make 10x more product that a ready made.

Almond oil is easily absorbed and is an effective remedy for dry skin and cracked lips. Rich in Vitamin E, it can also soothe rashes and irritated skin. This is my secret and thats why my skin has been firm all throughout the years.
