I did a search on the forums for Proactiv and I did find several Proactiv threads but none that suited my question.

A while back I did the stupid, stupid, stupid thing of purchasing Proactiv. I used it for about a week before the area underneath my bottom lip, on the sides of the lips and my chin area became extremely dry. I immediately stopped using the product right away.

Unfortunately the area that got really irritated turned a dark shade - mind you I'm hispanic so I'm already brown as it is, so the patches turned a dark deep brown.

Not only did the patches turn a dark color - they become very dry and I have a lot of small but deep lines all of my chin area/underneath the lower lip. No other area of my face was affected like this area was.

Using a deep moisturizer in that area in the morning before I apply MU it isn't as noticeable however by the end of the day the area will dry out, makeup fallen off and these stupid lines/wrinkles are there. Not just in one area but all over my chin. Plus the dry, dark, ashy stupid patches.

I used to use liquid foundation but that was horrible and when I found MMU that helped conceal it but like I said by the end of the day it'll show through.

They can't be age wrinkles - I mean I'm only 22 and like I said no other parts of my face were affected like this.

I use the Clinique Superdefense Triple Action Moisturizer to start the day off with in that area but by the end of the day its no help.

I'm too scared to try a peel or something in fear that that would just do more damage. And that whole area is pretty sensitive already to any other facial creams or anything that I'll use. It will immediately flare up and get red.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this happen due to a product? Also, do you have any recommendations?

That's terrible! I never had any problem with ProActive but I heard that some people find it too drying. I don't think you should do peels or anything that could upset your skin. You should ask your dermatologist, may be your skin just needs to "rest".

Have you used other Benzoyl Peroxide products before? You might be allergic. I'd say let your skin rest and maybe try mederma or something else like that meant to get rid of scarring.

i agree. you just might be allergic to benzoyl peroxide,,,and it just so happened that it only affected the areas around your mouth becasue those are the most sensitive parts of your skin. definetely talk to a doctor. maybe they can prescribe you an ointment for it.

i agree... the main culprit is the BP.. chances are your allergic.. so just give ur skin a break and hopefully it will heal.. if not then see a dermatologist..
