I'm proud to say that I took the plunge and got my first brazilian wax yesterday (actually first wax ever). I was relieved that it wasn't nearly as painful as I thought, in fact it was fine. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to best care for/maintain (I don't know what the word i'm looking for is) the area after a wax. I've read that exfoliating the area is key..anything else? I think i'll be doing it again, but what's the best things to do in-between wax treatments? Just let the hair grow for the next time?

Thanks in advance!

i would suggest using exfoliating gloves and a gentle cleanser in the shower to prevent ingrowns. i do it daily, but you have to know what your skin will tolerate since you're a newbie to waxing. the gloves are abit gentler than scrubs imo. you probably want to wait until the hair is about 1/4 to 1/2 inches long before your next visit. usually about 3 to 6 weeks depending on how quickly you grow out. glad you had a good experience for you first time!

Honey, I'm just doing this

because you did it. I've thought about it so many times, but I'm too chicken. I'd need some Vicodin or something before they started. Yay for you. Are you happy with the results?

Yes, I am really happy with the results- i wish it were perminent in fact! But, what's the saying no pain no gain. I guess people have different levels of pain tolerance and mine must be high. To me, it felt like a momentary sting and I was probably really anticipating excruciating pain. I just started off wanting a french wax, but once I realized how tolerable it was i kept going. The esthetian was really nice and I think going professionally makes a difference because they can get the best position for the most efficient and pain-free experience. I want an update on your situation. Just go for it. I woke up one more after doing a week or so of reading up on it and spontaneously made the appointment and then I had no other choice but to go! Good luck!

congrats on the first wax! i've read the same thing monnie posted. it should keep up fine like that!

i wanna get it done, but i'm sooo chicken!
