Ive been battling hyperpigmentation! my bleaching cream is finally working for me, but ive recently learned that without correct sun protection, i can make my acne spots darker by going in the sun. most sunscreen breaks me out , which will cause even more acne spots. even if i dont touch my pimple, use blemish treatment and let it go away naturally , I will still have a mark left. I have extremely sensitive oily skin and will break out easily. Im wondering if I should just stay inside until my marks fade completely???? this is under the wrong category:wacko: - sorry. but, please help!!!!

You should definatly go outside, you skin needs the sun. The sun provides the skin with vitamin D, so I think you should try oil-free SPF. Peter Thomas Roth has an oil-free SPF 20 Gel, so just ask around, and you should definatly enjoy the sun, wear a hat and hot the beach for some time... This is my 700th post

thank you. I see i have a few views, but only one post. I wish more people would give input. I have tried a few oil free sunscreen, I'm now trying mary kay day solution, my mom convinced me to buy it from her, and it seems to be going well. my acne spots arent like horrible, but I do want an even tone, so mu is only optional. thax again! xoxo

This should be under skin talk, maybe a mod'll move you.

You should really try to find a good oil free sunscreen. Neutrogena dry touch has good reviews. I use coppertone sport spf 48 and it goes on non greasy, is oil free and has never broken me out.

If you don't go out in the sun, make sure you get enough vitamin D! fortified orange juice, milk, vitamin pills are good.

My dermatologist says that if you are using a bleaching product you must use a sunscreen with an spf of at least 30. She recommends Neutrogena and Olay, both can be purchased at drugstores for less than $15.00. We all need fresh air and sunshine!

Neutrogena Dry Touch and Clinique Super City Block are the ONLY two sunblocks I've tried that don't break me out. Evenr moisturizers with sunblock break me out. I use the Neutrogena in SP 45 Daily.

If you don't mind me asking, what bleaching cream are you using? I need something to help with my hyperpigmentation as well :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The main moisturizing ingredient is glycerin and it doesn't break me out at all! You can get it at any drugstore or Walmart etc., it's somewhere between $5 and $10. Good luck to you, you shouldn't be going into the sun without protection anyway, its just a matter of finding the right product for your skin. You've gotten a few choices from this thread, one of them should work for you. BTW, Eucerin is also dermatologist recommended.</TD></TR><TR UNSELECTABLE="on" hb_tag="1"><TD style="FONT-SIZE: 1pt" height=1 UNSELECTABLE="on">

I use a bleaching cream that is prescribed by my derm. It is hand mixed at the pharmacy. My derm says the over-the-counter products work too slowly because the amount of hydroquinone is low(most are 2%). Lately I did notice one with a 3% level made by Nadinola, but it contained mineral oil. My prescription is 4%.

I use Ombrelle SPF 30. Neutrogena Dry Touch is a product that seems to be loved as well. I can understand your hesitation for going outside but you def need some sunshine from time to time. Have you asked your derm as to what he/she recommends? I hope you find something that works for you!

thank you! after finding my bleaching cream, you beat me to typing this out. Mine is also prescribed by doctor. I was gonna ask you what nationality you were, but im figuring a/a(am I right?). everything that youve described about your skin sounds like mine. I also go to the dermatologist, hes prescribed lots of things over the years, but most are too harsh and end up burning me, thus causing more spots!!! the only other prescribed med. that i still use is tetracycline(pills). he sometimes suggests sunscreens for me to use, but i figure if hes not 100% accurate with prescribing med. for me, why should i trust his every word???? which is exactly why i started this thread.... xoxo

out of a million prescriptions that hes prescribed me, only 2 or 3 of them actually work, without another side effect. If he gives me topical solution, either i break out more, or it burns, or trade one solution, gain another problem:scared: . I have no idea where i get this kind if skin from- no one else in my family has skin problems. so to answer your question, he gives me common sense advise. but being that im 23, and should be over the basic age for "freaked out" skin, im at the point where i feel i cant afford to make many more mistake, u know?

id rather get REAL advise from REAL people with the SAME problems. so tanning would be absolutely stupid to try to conceal, right?????

I've heard that when u use bleaching products and u go out into the sun, the dark marks gets even darker. So make sure and use your sunscreen. I use Aveeno sunscreen for face...it hasnt broken me out. But next time i think i would try the neutrogena.

Lancome's suncsreen SPF 30 is very light and would do the trick for you. You only need very little to put on your face. If you got a major department store near you, check out the Lancome counter and try it. It's always best to try on a product before buying one.

I also read a lot of rave reviews on La Roche Posay Anthelios suncreen - SPF 15 to 60. CVS stores carry La Roche Posay.

All the best to you.

i actually bought the anthelios spf 20 (fluide extrême, in the bottle you can shake) and i can say i'm really satisfied, my skin loves it, it's not oily after i put it, and it doesn't clog my pores, and it's a very light texture, more milky than creamy. worth every cent. i'm finishing it so i can switch to spf 40 :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Try using a SPF Powder instead! Check out everydayminerals.com for their New SPF Powders that are at SPF 30 with only 4 ingrediets. Most Sunscreen products the lotion/cream version may cause you to breakout more check out their ingredient list it long!!

i think it's always possible to develop an allergy. i simply want to add that anthelios is made for sun sensitive skins, and it's a brand made by dermatologists, so i think the chances you can develop an allergy to anthelios are minimal.

anyway, if you know an ingredient that's causing you an allergy, check the labels.

I am using something for my hyperpigmentation too and I like to use Neutrogena dry touch. IT doesn't break me out and it doesn't leave that nasty film on my face that I get from other sunscreens.
