hi everyone.. im new to the great forum.. and need your guys' help..

my skin is acne prone, but i was able to control it for years, but recently my skin has been breaking out like crazy!! it makes me soo insecure now, cuz my skin has never been this bad =/ i've been using proactive for a year now and it was great in the beginning, but now it doesn't seem to do anything. does anyone know a great skincare line that is awesome for acne prone skin?? thank you!

Im loving Mario Badescu skin care right now. The enzyme cleanser is really gentle and smells wonderful, and it's also moisturizing which can help clear breakouts b/c so many other acne products out there dry the skin (which can clog pores even more). also it doesnt have a billion ingredients which I like

My best friend swears by kiehls spot treatment and origins checks and balances, both of which are great!

I only know about the harder stuff - Accutane. And to a lesser degree: Retin A, Renova, and Stieva Vit A Aid gel. These three have tetrinoin as their active ingredient.

thanx you guys.. i'll look into the products and decide which is better for me =) i appreciate everything..

Hi,

We have a great thread called Acne Talk, Tips and More. You can do a search on what you need in there.

Good luck!

Those are very effective for bad cases of acne. If you can't go to a derm, Philosophy Help Me has one of the highest OTC concentrations of retinol.

As for skincare lines that are effective for acne, in drugstore brands I prefer exclusively Biore, and for higher end lines, I prefer Murad and DDF. Good luck solving your problem!

The active ingredient in Retin A, Renova and Stievaa Vit A acid gel is Tetrinoin.

This can only be obtained be a prescription in Canada and the US.

Retinol may be an ingredient included in Retin A and Renova, but not STievaa Vit A Acid gel. Even if it were, it is not what controls acne breakouts. Tetrinoin is the active ingredient for acne control.

For OTC products, try benzoil peroxide products like Oxy pads and topical lotions.

Benzoil peroxide is quite effective on mild to moderate break outs, and it is quite inexpensive.

hi there...sorry to hear about your problem. i know how much it sucks to have bad breakouts. i've been breaking out like crazy in the last few months too. i went to a dermatologist and got a prescription of Retin-A micro. it seems to be working ok but not 100%. i'm thinking about going on antibiotics. so i would definitely recommend seeing a derm....also, be careful not to over scrub or over medicate your face because this will just irritate your skin more! try using a more gentle cleanser like cetaphil or purpose and an oil-free moisturizer. hope this helps.

I use stievaa Vit A acid gel to control acne. It works quite well for keeping blackheads at bay. But I still get pimples and cystic acne break outs.

I use another prescription called Neo Medrol.

Retin A micro works the same as the Stievaa. You might want to consider a topical anti biotic, Neo Medrol, or just benzoil peroxide like Oxy for pimples.
