Accutane

Went to the dermatologist today, he has decided to put me on accutane for my acne. I've tired over 6 oral antibiotics and 8 creams since August 2005 and nothings worked for me.... I know there are ALOT of side effects, can't get pregnant on it, must take bc while on it, blood tests and pregnancy tests each month, etc. Buuuut....

Anyone been on it?

Tried it?

Any advice?

Anything you've heard about it? :wassatt:

I was on Accutane for a 9 month treatment. Accutane saved my life!! I was like you and had tried everything over the counter and Rx for my skin with NO help at all... My derm finally put me on Accutane and after about 4 months I noticed I hadn't had a pimple for a couple of weeks which was UNHEARD of for me.

My skin did get dry, so make sure to stock up on Cetaphil's Moisurizing Cream (the one in the tub). Also always carry lip balm. I love Smith's Rosebud Salve and Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm.

DO NOT GET PREGNANT! Accutane will do horrible things to an unborn baby and 99% of the time you will miscarry, otherwise the baby will die once it is born or soon after... Accutane is NOT something to fool around with. It is a SERIOUS drug and you should very carefully watch your body for any odd signs or symptoms.

I had a mild case of night blindness while I was on it...It subsided once I went off of it.
