i wanted to speak about my recent discovery : the fabulous alum stone(aka Alunite).
the alum stone is a natural stone, made of potassium (mineral salt).
this is what it looks like :
it's kind of a crystal-like white stone. mine weighs 100g (4 oz?).
the advantages are numerous :
the sprays are full of chemicals, not always very effective, and damage the ozone layer.
roll on deodorants? well i don't know for you, but usually they're creamy, take time to dry so you have to wait a few minutes with your arms in the air, and they gave me those hideous traces on my teeshirts, even those which weren't supposed to. and, they cost more in my country than the sprays.
the alum stone is perfume free, haemostatic (which means you can use it as an after shave==>your man will love it, lol), astringent, softening.
it's also a natural deodorant, and this is how i use it ^^. you just have to wet it a bit before applying it on your skin. it fights against odors (apparently it builds a layer unfriendly for bacteria-whatever). it's not an anti perspirant, it's a deodorant (anti perspirants btw are bad, because they reduce or even suppress the sweat, but sweat is your body's cooling system; and just as a computer, you don't want your body to crash). you can also use the stone on your feet or hands, everywhere you sweat a lot.
the alum stone is available in pharmacies or health food stores. it cost me 8€ (around 10$), but you have to consider this stone will last you a long time, so it's a good investment.
make sure though it's written "potassium alum" on it, and not "ammonium alum" which is a synthetic alum stone.
bonus : it's a stone so no need to test it on animals, isn't that great?
