Okay, so I am attempting to set up some type of routine and I need some help. I have combination skin... the apple of my cheeks and my forehead are severely dry, and I tend to breakout around my nose and on my chin, and get black heads on the very tip of my nose. So, I've bought St. Ives Apricot Scrub that is formulated for people who tend to break out or get black heads. I also have a tiny bit of Dove Sensitive Essentials Face Lotion (the Day lotion). I use the day lotion at night on my forehead and have been using the Apricot scrub every other night.

So, my questions are...

How often should I be using the Scrub?

Is it okay to use the Day Lotion at night to help with my forehead and cheeks?

Thanks for any help!

I would say the apricot scrub could be used daily depending on how sensitive your skin is. I would also say you probaly need a night time lotion. I use the clinique 3 step and it's very good and cheap.

If it's a heavy exfoliant, don't use it everyday. Every other day or less. Even if you don't have sensitive skin, you don't want to exfoliate everyday unless it's a mild one (meaning softer, smaller particles). Clinique has an everyday exfoliant available, if you want to everyday.

You can use lotions whenever you want, though!

P.S. Where do you live? I know someone names Mandi Moore and was born in 87!

A harsh scrub, like the Apricot Scrub is not recommended at least by me, for daily use. The particles not only are not smooth, but because of it, it can actually tear your skin and cause more problems. If you really want to use the scrub, limit it to one to two times per week.

If you like exfoliating and want something gentler but very effective, go for baking soda or sugar, which can be used more often.

I'm from Owensboro, KY. :-D

i wouldn't recommend you use the scrub everyday, unless it's really soft, but even so if your skin is sensitive, forget it. use it like once or twice a week. use it on your whole face to also get rid of the dead skin on your forehead and cheeks.

yes you can use the lotion at night if you want to, i think you can use it whenever you want.

If you have breakouts, don't use a granular scrub as this will spread the infection when you scrub your face. Use an Enzymatic peel. As the mask dries out, it contracts slightly, absorbing dead skin cells. But if you only suffer from blackheads, you can use a granular scrub. But don't use it daily, use it once to twice a week. Make sure you are using the correct products for your skin type. It not wrong to use a day cream at night. If this issue is worrying you, you can always visit a professional beauty therapist. If you afford to do a facial once every six weeks it really helps your skin to improve. Use a sun protection during the day to help against the harmful effects of the weather.
