Hi!

I must apologise first because even though I read the forums occasionally, I've never signed up or posted before. So it's kind of rude to come here and ask questions right away, but I'm in a bit of a pinch. I got this nice promotion for this whole week of 70% off and I've squandered the web on my free time and asked at the local store, but I didn't get the answers I was looking for. I need to buy things at the very most until tomorrow and though this is quite rude, I can't think of anything else. So again, sorry for the rudeness. :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> And the occasional typos, english isn't my first language.

On to the question. I need recommendations for a 3 step program, for tan/medium and oily skin. I've searched the forums for it, but the only thing I get back are either irrelevant information, or Clinique 3-Step Program, which is useless to me. Anyway, these ones are those that I know of:

-L'Oreal Pure Zone. I've used this roughly since I was... sixteen I think? I had a bad case of acne (I still have it on my backs) and was using medication as well. However Pure Zone reached the markets then and my parents bought it for me. It was the only thing that we knew of back then (not sure if there was more) but it worked quite well anyway and it was cheap, so I never had a reason to move away from it.

-Clinique 3-Step Program - The day I hit 23 my mother took me to a store that had lots of brands, for me to buy something more specialised because we tought it was time. The lady was very nice and she recommended me a pack (type 4) and I've been using it (not the same pack :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />) since then. I must say the skin feels excellent at the cheeks. However there's nothing else better. I break out occasionally, especially the chin and neck. I brush a finger across my forehead at the middle of the day and it's so oily it feels like water is upon it. The nose pores have so much fat, I occasionaly have to squeeze it out as if they were pimples. I'm sad about this because Clinique's makeup selection is one of my favourites (along with Shiseido). I wanted to remain loyal to the brand (I'll keep buying the brushes at the very least, those are awesome) and because they're fragance free (I loath odd smells), but I just can't keep with this system. A friend of mine told me though the brand in itself is awesome, the 3-Step Program is outdated and is nothing special for the price it is (it's quite expensive in my country, double the price from the UK). I kind of agree on the nothing special after some packs. The clarifying lotion feels like nothing but alcohol and the moisturising cream doesn't feel much better than a standard cream from the supermarket.

I've heard about an Avon system and the Pro-Activ 3, not sure how expensive they are. If anything else fails, I'll either fall back to the L'Oreal system, which was cheap and perhaps quite tough, but at least worked then (not sure about now) or just buy the same things (cleaner, esfoliator, moisturising) individually. I wanted to avoid the latter out of lazyness, but I accept any kind of recommendation.

I know these things change from person to person, that is why I want to take advantage of the 70% promotion and just bring a handfull of those home and try them out.

Thank you.

I have used Pro-Activ, for me it worked pretty well but I could only use the facewash and toner occasionally/when needed. The repair serum was much too drying for me. I dont really break out a lot and I dont have oily skin though, so that may be why. It might work better for someone who has more of an oily skin type though. I got one full-size set and I believe its supposed to last 3 or 6 months (?) but its lasted me much longer than that.

I know the full size Pro-Activ system is about $100 or so, they set you up to pay $30 or so dollars a month and you can get a subscription for it. Around here you can buy it at the mall without having to worry about getting duped into the subscription like you do online though! I have noticed that you can get them on ebay also, just be aware of the expiration date and how many ounces the bottle is to make sure you arent getting ripped off. The full-size one that I have is 6 ounces.

I know that this is probably not much help, hopefully some others can give you more feedback.
