So as most of you know I was on accutane about 8 months ago. I was on it for 6 months on a dose of 40 mg once a day. It cleared up my skin and did me wonders. However now (8 months later) Im starting to breakout more and more and depressing as hell!!!! I got like 3 on my forehead, one on the upper part of my nose, 2 on my left cheek and one tiny on the right... All arent too bad and barelly noticable when I put makeup on but that isnt the point. Just last month I was completely acne free and now I have to deal with like 7 new ones within the past week or so.... Its complete frickin BULLSHIT!! Im so angry right now. I know I may be overreacting but damn I want to go back on a course of accutane.

What do you guys think???? Maybe minocycline....

Why would you be asking? Is accutane a bad thing? I've been too scared to put my teenage son on it b/c of the side effects but if it worked for you and you had no side effects then it's totally a personal decision. You have to do what makes you feel good about yourself. I know acne SUX!! I'm 37 and started getting it recently it pissed me off too. Take good care and remember only you can know what's right for you and your body.

And also My back hurt really bad while being on it. I had to quit working out. It sucked!!! But I would much rather go on something like Minocycline if it would clear me up without the s hit breakout at first and sore back. But at the same time I dont want to use anything that is just a waste of time and wont work. I know accutane will work but its a very long process...... I guess Ill have to book a derm appointment. Damn probably be about 3 months till im in...

Hey Tyler, mino worked for me. But the problem is, unlike accutane, you have to keep taking it. And eventually, it's going to stop working.

Really????? Did it stop working for you?

Yeah, it stopped a long time ago. So I kept moving on to every antibiotic for acne there was, and none of them worked for me. My body had become immune to antibiotics. They're a waste of time.

I dont have a strong stomach.... OOoooh Fu*k it... Ill just tough it out I guess hahaha. Having a few pimples here and there aint so bad... Could be worse. I always have makeup. I just dont want to breakout anymore then I am right now.

This sounds like a real dilemma for you. I think you should talk to your doctor and remember what I said earlier only you know what's right for you and your body. Remember to wash your brushes and sponges. I heard about this make up sponge that's either anti- microbial or bacterial. Have you heard of it Beauty Blender? look it up on BeautyBlender.com

Hey I have just been informed that Tea tree oil is a very good spot treatment.... Is this true??? People say it dries out the pimple big time and kills it off... I just dont get how it does this if its a natural oil??? Wouldnt it make the skin somewhat greasy and oily???

Tea tree oil is the best. But if you're going to get some, don't be stingy on how much you pay for it. Get it at a reputable place that sells it. Like GNC.

Tea tree oil is a natural oil, but it's naturally anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. It really is magical stuff. I used to be terrified to put it on my skin too because it was an oil. Same thing with jojoba oil. And jojoba oil is the best moisturizer i've ever used. AND it's the only one that's never broken me out. Unlike all the other moisturizers that claimed they were "non-greasy" and "non-commodogenic" well guess what, they weren't. But jojoba oil is. And it never makes my face look greasy or oily. Surprising, huh?

Wow thanks alot Kanmi... Im deffinitely going to pick up some tea tree oil. That moisturizer I dont think I need.... my face is so oily as it is

Best of luck with everything Tyler! Let us know what ends up working for you!

Hang in there Tyler..I did it 3 times. The side effects suck but not near as bad as the acne. If antibiotics would work for you then your derm would have cleared you up with them...accutane is a last resort so I don't think the antibiotics are an option for you anyway.

Also...you won't have the horrendous inital breakouts this time like you did the first....at least I didn't and no one I've talked to had it after the first time.

Sorry you feel this way. I was on accutane twice before it cured my acne completely (5years ago), (and I think I was the only one on this planet who didn't have side effects from it), I only have very small breakouts now when stressed or during PMS, and even then, they are very tiny ones. So go to the doc and see if you need it onces again. I'm living proff that this stuff is the best on the market (look at my profile to see my skin, and I'm not even wearing makeup on that pic)...

I did accutane for 6-7 months

when I was 12 bc I had HORRIBLE acne. It made the worst go away but beacause of stress and stuff I still kept getting acne when I got off. Heck, I still get pimples now!

As a TEENAGER your body is still changing
eusa_whistle.gif
(yes 18 is still a teen!!) so you still have acne. Talk to your doc (oohh I rhymed!

) about getting a topical treatment (thats what I do!) to help get rid of the other stubborn buggers!

Try this:

Wash your face 2-3 times a day

NEVER NEVER EVER touch your face with your hands!!!! Trust me, there is SO much bacteria on your hands that it just is going to make it worse!

Otherwise, best of luck!!!

Thanks everybody for the advice

My face seems to be a bit better today. Today is the first time I have not worn a full face of foundation in months, so hopefully that will give my skin a chance to breath. Tomorrow I am going to pick up a bottle of 20% spot treatment Tea Tree Oil because I heard that works wonders!!!! I really dont think my doc will give me accutane right now

My skin is to mild for it... The only are I have acne right now is my forehead and left cheek and even then they are farelly small. So Im just going to hope by next week all this will just go away. Ill keep you all updated though
